  • The Pokemon community’s creativity continues to thrive with fan art and tribute designs for every pocket monster.

A talented Pokemon fan online has reimagined several different designs from the series as various foods. Four designs from three different Pokemon Generations are represented here, so fans should definitely recognize a few of these Pokemon from throughout the series.

The Pokemon community shows absolutely no signs of slowing down any time soon. It remains perhaps the most committed of any online community, although it is definitely helped by having nine Generations worth of Pokemon designs to use as inspiration. Every fan has their own favorite, and tribute artwork exists for just about every single Pokemon out there at this point. Some fans even put new spins on old designs to make them feel fresh all over again, like the Pokemon artist who designed convergent forms for Drowzee and Hypno.

Pokemon Player Spends 23 Years Completing Incredibly Rare Achievement

An avid Pokemon player completes one of the rarest achievements in the history of the franchise, leaving the community amazed.

Redditor ReadyCartographer765 shared their awesome redesigns, which imagine what Gastly, Cranidos, Typhlosion, and Mantine would look like as different foods, and they almost work too well. Gastly becomes an egg, which is as funny as it sounds. Generation 4 Pokemon Cranidos is an avocado, while Typhlosion has two designs – a red and green apple. Then there’s Mantine, who has been turned into a pancake. One user in the thread even came up with some hilarious names for the group: Friegstly, Cranicado, Aplephlosion, and Mancake.

Pokemon Reimagined As Food

All of the Pokemon chosen to be reimagined as foods are from the early Generations of the series. For example, Gastly was introduced in Generation 1, Mantine and Typhlosion were Generation 2, and Cranidos was Generation 4. Most Pokemon fan art centers around these early designs, as they’re often the ones that players hold the most nostalgia for. One fan even created incredible Pokemon Gen 1 starter-themed Poke Balls, paying tribute to the first three pocket monsters most will encounter. While some modern Pokemon could definitely go on to become iconic, it could take time for this to happen.

When it comes to the future of the Pokemon franchise, Game Freak remains pretty tight-lipped about what it holds. Pokemon Legends: Z-A will round out Generation 9 next year, although no official news about Generation 10 has been announced yet. Given the fact Pokemon is set to turn 30 in 2026, it’s likely that something will happen there. In the meantime, Pokemon fans should keep an eye on August 20, with The Pokemon Company set to attend Gamescom in the days following its Opening Night Live event. While nothing is confirmed, it seems like it would be a good time to make an announcement.
