The Addison Art Gallery is hosting an event to highlight artists from throughout the region, country, and beyond, according to a community announcement.
The event, scheduled for 5-7 p.m. April 25, will feature live music by Larry Murray and live painting demonstrations by Maryalice Eizenberg, Jonathan McPhillips and Amy Sanders at the gallery, 43 Route 28, Orleans.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists, learn about their techniques and explore works by both established and emerging artists.
Eizenberg, an award-winning artist, has been drawing and painting her entire life. She completed coursework at the Worcester and Springfield fine arts museums, earned a bachelor of arts at Clark University and studied with several painters, including John Cosby and Donald Demers.

Her work focuses on dramatic patterns of light and color, and she aims to share her emotional response to these elements with viewers. Eizenberg teaches at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham and is a member of Oil Painters of America and Twenty One in Truro.
“Rugosa Abloom” by Amy Sanders, pastel
Sanders, a Truro-based artist, creates detailed pastel paintings that capture the serenity and beauty of nature. Her work often portrays the power of the ocean, the peaceful landscape of pine woods and dunes, and the intricacies of tidal pools.
“While painting I become drawn into the scene,” Sanders said. “It’s an extraordinary sensation where I can feel the sand between my toes, smell the salt air, or hear the roar of the ocean. To bring that sensation to others is my primary goal. I paint and am not a professional photographer because of the unique difference that painting brings to the scene. Many work is highly realistic, with edges softer and colors richer than photographs. There is also a depth that one does not find in a photograph. Objects in the distance have smoother edges and less detail — more typical of how the eye sees than a camera. While I often use photographs for reference, there is a richer emotion from the spectacular beauty of a scene when creating painting, that I hope carries through to the viewer.”
“Companions” by Jonathan McPhillips, oil
McPhillips, a cum laude graduate of Connecticut College with a bachelor of fine arts, celebrates the coastal splendor of New England in his work. His paintings encompass harbors, beaches, vessels and the architecture of the coastal marine environment. McPhillips has received national and international recognition, with his work showcased in various U.S. embassies through the Art in Embassies program by the U.S. Department of State.
The Addison Art Gallery, which has been operating for almost 30 years, represents artists from across the Americas and France. The gallery has been praised for its exhibitions and community support, collaborating with organizations such as the Cape Cod Museum of Art and the Orleans Conservation Commission.
The gallery has also been involved in several initiatives, including “After Hopper,” a venture celebrating contemporary artists inspired by Edward Hopper, and “Outermost Inspirations,” an homage to Henry Beston’s “The Outermost House” in 2018.
The event will also provide an opportunity to learn more about the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, which supports and celebrates the arts and culture of the region.
