Film Director Karla Murthy chats about her documentary ‘Love, Jamie’ that highlights the life, art, and incarceration of trans artist Jamie Diaz.  After serving nearly 30 years in prison for a robbery conviction related to drug addiction, Jamie was released on parole on May 31st, 2024. The documentary chronicles a deep pen pal friendship forged while Jamie was behind bars and how that friendship ultimately resulted in a New York City solo art show of Jamie’s work. ‘Love, Jamie’ is now available to stream as part of the American Masters series on PBS.
