Taylor Swift is firmly in her Showgirl era—and it’s a glamorous one.
Case in point? Swift is dripping in jewels on the cover of The Life of a Showgirl, her twelfth studio album headed for release on October 3. Swift shared ample details about the project on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights,” which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce; in her August 13 appearance, the singer-songwriter said that The Life of a Showgirl is “the record I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time.”

More on the 12-track album itself in a moment, but first—the jewels. In information shared with InStyle, on the cover of the album, Swift is in full showgirl costume, including a Zydo Italy 18K white gold and diamond domed stretch bracelet with a total carat weight of 19.25. The cover art shows the artist partially submerged in water wearing a crystal-embellished Area dress.
On the album’s track list photo—which features Swift in an elaborate headdress—Swift once again wears Zydo Italy, this time a pair of 18K white gold and diamond earrings with a total carat weight of 18.20. Another photo shared sees the performer in a monochromatic red look by The Blonds, accessorizing with Etho Maria ruby earrings totaling 38.88 carats.

Swift shared five photos in support of The Life of a Showgirl on August 13, including one where she sports a short black bob haircut in a costume bursting with pink ostrich feathers (a custom look by The Blonds), and another where she poses in true Las Vegas showgirl style in a costume fit for the stage. Swift’s looks were styled by longtime collaborator Joseph Cassell Falconer, according to Page Six, and the images were photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
Among the dozen tracks on the album is a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter on the title track; The Life of a Showgirl is produced by Swift with Max Martin and Shellback, who previously worked with Swift on Red, 1989, and Reputation.

“This was the time where it felt like all three of us in the room were carrying the same weight as creators,” Swift said on “New Heights.” “Really special. It meant the world to me to have this creative experience where, like, we knew that we had to bring the best ideas we’ve ever had. And I know the pressure I’m putting on this record by saying that, but I don’t care, because I love it that much. So proud of it. And it just comes from, like, the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life.”
Of working again with fashion photographers Mert and Marcus—who previously worked with Swift on Reputation’s photography, according to Entertainment Weekly—Swift said on the podcast on Wednesday that “I called them up for this one, and I’m so happy with the way that the photos came out for this one.”

“And it just basically was like, I was so proud of the music and so excited about this project from a creative standpoint that I was just like, all hands on deck,” she continued. “We’re going all out. This is a full send. I care about this record more than I can even overstate.”
Of using the color orange as the main theme for The Life of a Showgirl, Swift explained, “it feels like of energetically how my life has felt. And this album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this [Eras] tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant.”

Speaking of the Eras Tour, Swift somehow found time to record The Life of a Showgirl while on tour in Europe: “I just love it a lot,” Swift said. “I love music. I would be playing shows. I’d do, like, three shows in a row. I’d have three days off. I’d fly to Sweden, go back to the tour, and actually, like working on this. I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating.”
