An art museum born from one of Melbourne’s richest dynasties is about to get one of the city’s highest-paid barristers as chair, determined to lift corporate support for the loss-making institution.

Philip Crutchfield, KC, will on January 1 become chairman of Heide Art Museum, at Bulleen in north-east Melbourne, following the retirement of investment banker and Clean Energy Finance Corporation chair Steven Skala after a decade at the helm.
