A Co Down artist and musician has turned his hand to 3D sculpture in recent years, creating giant sculptures out of reclaimed materials for the iconic St Patrick’s Day parade float in Downpatrick, known best for being the resting place of the patron saint.

Kieron Black, who lives not far from the town, is most famous for his children’s books, illustrations and fine art paintings but in recent years has been creating giant 3D sculptures of various animals and Irish legends in keeping with the theme of the parade.
