A celebration of the life of legendary Newfoundland actor Rick Boland is set for this afternoon in St. John’s.
Boland died on January 30—and much too early—at the age of 70.
The actor and comedian spent decades with Rising Tide Theatre, helping create the company in 1984 alongside founder Donna Butt.
Today’s get-together is set for 3 p.m. in the hall of Gower Street United Church in downtown St. John’s.
A post on social media for the event states, “We will laugh, cry, sing and perhaps even dance a jig together as we honour Rick, a true Newfoundland and Labrador treasure.”
It will also be live-streamed starting at 3:15.
