The Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing is thrilled to present visiting artists Cáitlín Burke, an acclaimed stage actor and singer. She will participate in a Q and A at 12 PM on Friday March 29 in Hemingway 110. This event is free and open to the public. On April 12-15, Burke will appear in the Theatre Program’s upcoming production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music” as the Mother Abbess.

A celebrated actor and singer, Burke appeared in numerous productions across the country. Her recent portrayal of the Mother Abbess in the North American Equity Tour earned rave reviews. “Cáitlín Burke played the Mother Abbess, and her ‘Climb Every Mountain’ was one of the best I’ve seen (and as an inveterate ‘Sound of Music’ fan, I’ve seen a lot),” wrote Betsie Freeman in the “Omaha World-Record.” “Her sincere and powerful delivery made me see the song in a whole new light — it was way more than a show-stopping vehicle for a high soprano. Burke made the lyrics resonate.”
