Key Takeaways

  • Several AI-powered apps help you create photorealistic art.
  • Some tools require you to enter prompts, whereas others only need you to upload pictures of yourself.
  • You’ll find a handful of free photorealistic AI art generators, but some of the best ones cost money.

While AI art generators can effortlessly produce artistic images, let’s delve deeper and discover generators capable of producing photorealistic results. It might take some practice, but these six tools will help you achieve the most realistic-looking AI images.

Adobe released Firefly in June 2023, and it’s one of the easiest photorealistic AI art generators to use. One of the nicest things about this tool is you can adjust the camera settings that your images use. For example, the pictures I’ve generated here have an aperture of f/2 to allow for a blurrier background.

Besides adjusting the aperture, you can change the shutter speed and focal length. If you don’t care so much about what these are, the app has an Auto setting to take care of everything for you. To get more accurate results, you can also upload reference pictures or choose one from Firefly’s gallery.

To give your pictures more of a dynamic and realistic look, consider using Adobe Firefly’s filters. For example, I added bokeh and hyperrealistic filters—in addition to a muted color photography style. You can also choose the camera angle you want for your pictures.

Adobe Firefly’s basic features are free, but you can also sign up for Adobe Firefly Premium ($4.99 per month or $49.99 per year).

Photo AI is arguably the best AI photo generator, and you can choose from several pre-designed characters and settings. The app also gives you a set of prompts to choose from if you’re new to AI prompting and don’t know where to start.

If you’re comfortable with prompting, you can create your own from scratch. Besides picking characters that already exist, you have the option to upload photos of yourself and generate photorealistic images in various settings.

Once you’ve prompted the software, you’ll receive multiple images within a few minutes. As mentioned in my overview of what Photo AI is, you may need to ask the tool to fix body parts like hands—but for the most part, it provides reasonable results.

Photo AI’s pricing is as follows:

Subscription Annual Plan Monthly Plan
Photo AI Pro $390/yr $29/mo
Photo AI Premium $990/yr $99/mo
Photo AI Business $299/mo $2,999/yr

Photo AI also has an app for iOS.

Microsoft has a tool called Image Creator, which you might have heard being referred to as Bing Image Creator or Image Creator from Microsoft Designer. The tool is completely free to use; all you have to do is enter your prompt, and you’ll get a few pictures to choose from.

From personal experience, Image Creator excels at close-up photorealistic images. For example, I asked the tool to give me pictures of ceramics in golden light:

In addition to adding your own prompts from scratch, you can choose pre-made prompts and edit them. Each of these is available on the homepage.

Once you’ve designed your image, Image Creator lets you edit your visuals via Microsoft Designer. Here, you can remove or blur the background, add filters, and adjust the brightness and contrast.

DALL-E 3 has several custom GPTs to enhance the program’s functionality, and the Photo Realistic GPT is a great choice if you want to generate AI art that looks like real-life images.

To generate an image with this GPT, I gave the following prompt:

“Corporate headshot of a mixed-race man with circular glasses, black hair, and a yellow sweater against a neutral wall background at f/2 and 35mm”

I received the following image, which was pretty much what I was looking for…

When using the Photo Realistic GPT with DALL-E 3, you should give the GPT as much information as possible for the most accurate results. DALL-E 3 can also generate photorealistic images, but it’s better for artistic-style pictures instead—give these DALL-E3 prompts a try if you want to create that style.

DALL-E 3 and all of its custom GPTs are part of a ChatGPT Plus subscription, which costs $20/mo. We also tested out ChatGPT Plus to see if it’s worth it, so make sure you check it out before committing.

Portrait Studio is a handy tool for generating photorealistic headshots. You can use these images on your LinkedIn profile, which is one of many ways you can enhance your LinkedIn profile with AI.

You can generate headshots in several scenarios with Portrait Studio. For example, you can choose to have your pictures taken in a city or office environment—it lets you select up to six styles.

Examples of images you can create in different settings via Portrait Studio

All you have to do is purchase credits and upload 15 images of yourself. Once you’ve done that, you’ll receive your headshots. You pay for a certain number of headshots rather than month-to-month, and the pricing is as follows:

Plan and Number of Headshots Price
Standard (40 images) $19
Advanced (120 images) $29
Premium (240 images) $49

1PhotoAI lets you generate photorealistic headshots based on several themes. For example, you can choose pictures for LinkedIn or travel photos. You can also generate your own avatar and upload photos of yourself for more accurate results.

The 1PhotoAI program also has an Image Enhancer feature. The tool will automatically enlarge your pictures, and you can also make them more high-definition. Furthermore, the tool has a color fixer if you feel like the vibrance, saturation, and so on isn’t what you want it to be.

To use 1PhotoAI, you’ll need to buy credits. Each is a one-time payment, and pricing is as follows:

Number of Credits Price
30 (valid for one month) $20
300 (valid for three months) $40
600 (valid for six months) $60

If you can’t afford a professional photographer, consider using a photorealistic AI art generator. You can also use these tools to have fun and generate images based on yourself or customized characters. And remember to write high-quality prompts for the best possible results.
