On April 14, 2024, Sailor Moon: Raisonne Art Works (1991-2023) finally hit bookshelves in Japan. To celebrate this highly-anticipated release, the Sailor Moon franchise has revealed that several of the book’s artistic highlights will become high-quality framed prints for fans to purchase.
Sailor Moon: Raisonne Art Works (1991-2023) is a 200-page compendium of over 700 illustrations created by franchise creator Naoko Takeuchi throughout her artistic career. Via Sailor Moon Fan Network, the Ogaki Bookstore in Azabudai Hills, Tokyo is currently organizing a commemorative exhibition for the book’s release, which will include a walk-in shop. This temporary storefront will offer a myriad of SailorMoon-themed goods, including acrylic keychains, posters, file folders and more. Additionally, visitors will be able to order exclusive framed prints featuring three of the book’s gorgeous full-color illustrations. While the exhibition itself is set to open on June 1, some of the in-store products will not become available until June 15.

As shown above, the selected illustrations honor not just main Sailor Moon protagonist Usagi Tsukino but also the many formidable heroines that have helped make the franchise one of the most iconic shojo titles of all time. Three different full-color prints, which are made to order, will be available starting June 1. Compared to the shop’s other items, these prints are rather expensive, with prices ranging between 39,600 yen (US$252.32) to 59,400 yen (US$378.44). However, anime enthusiasts who have a particular fondness for Takeuchi’s art can rest easy, as many of the shop’s other goods are similarly adorned with breathtaking Sailor Moon illustrations created by the beloved manga artist.
Sailor Moon’s Upcoming Exhibition Will Also Feature Postcards Featuring the Main Characters
In addition to prints, the exhibition is also selling beautiful high-definition Sailor Moon postcards, each of them highlighting a different major character. Roster highlights include Tuxedo Mask, Chibiusa, Sailor Venus, Sailor Mercury and many others. Additionally, the Sailor Moon Aurora Poster collection features a particularly stunning selection of works, including an otherworldly portrait of Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion. Like the prints, both the postcards and the posters are scheduled to go on sale starting June 1. However, prospective visitors should keep in mind that, between June 1-4 and June 15-16, purchases will be limited to one item per person (per transaction). This is likely being implemented to ensure that stock does not run out too quickly.
New Toonami Rewind Block Brings Back Retro Anime With ’90s Sailor Moon and More
The Sailor Moon ’90s anime is set to return via Toonami, along with other fan-favorite anime classics in a new retro-style block on Cartoon Network.
2024 has seen wave after wave of fresh merchandise releases for the Sailor Moon franchise, thanks largely to the long-awaited reopening of the Sailor Moon official store. Located in Tokyo’s Harajuku shopping district, the Sailor Moon Store reopened its doors on April 19, introducing a huge selection of store-original goods for the Sailor Moon community. Even more releases have followed in subsequent weeks, such as a dazzling collection of store-original amulets and new chibi-style mini-figures for Sailor Venus and Sailor Jupiter. The Sailor Moon Museum has also introduced a new collection of products for the limited-time exhibition that is currently taking place in Osaka, Japan. This event began on April 19 and is scheduled to conclude on June 2.
The commemorative exhibition for Sailor Moon: Raisonne Art Works (1991-2023) will be held from June 1 to July 12, 2024. Naoko Takeuchi’s Sailor Moon manga is available in English from Kodansha US. Toei Animation’s iconic ’90s anime adaptation is available on Hulu. Its 2015 reboot anime series, Sailor Moon Crystal, is available on Netflix.
