A Pokemon fan is showing off their stunning homage to Ribombee, quilling an impressive picture of the seventh generation Pokemon’s shiny variant. The massively popular monster-catching franchise has seen a wealth of different creatures throughout the series’ nearly thirty-year-long lifespan, bringing multiple unique and fantastical Pokemon to life. There are currently over a thousand Pokemon for players to find and capture, with plenty of merchandise and fan creations for each new member. Now, one fan is showing a particularly impressive art piece focused on a Pokemon first appearing in Alola.

Debuting in Pokemon Sun and Moon, Ribombee serves as one of the earliest members of Pokemon‘s Fairy typing. Ribombee is the evolved form of Cutiefly, with the base form first available for players to capture early on in the Alola region games. Cutiefly and Ribombee have re-appeared in each main-series game since their original debut, being added to PokemonScarlet and Violet with the games’ “Teal Mask” expansion. A Pokemon fan has now created a wonderful piece of artwork based on the Bug and Fairy-type Pokemon.

The artistic style gives the Ribombee artwork a 3D appearance, with the Pokemon’s head and body positioned atop its wings. The papercraft art depicts the Cutiefly evolution in its shiny variant, with the Pokemon’s normally golden body replaced with a pinkish hue.

The amazing re-creation of one of Pokemon‘s most popular Fairy Pokemon comes as the creature’s shiny version recently saw its debut in another Pokemon property. Pokemon GO‘s “Dazzling Dreams” event earlier this year marked the introduction of Shiny Cutiefly and Ribombee to Pokemon GO, with the shiny now regularly available in the game. Cutiefly and Ribombee debuted in the Pokemon mobile game in early 2023, first appearing within the game’s “Spring into Spring” event during the “Rising Heroes” season.

While Pokemon has continued to add new creatures and experiences for fans, the franchise is reportedly set to take a year off from its major releases. The Pokemon Company officially announced Pokemon Legends: Z-A earlier this year as the next major Pokemon game, confirming it for a 2025 launch. The lack of a mainline Pokemon game in 2024 would be the first time the franchise has skipped two years in a row for its main-series games. Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s 2025 release window likely sets up a quiet year for Pokemon in 2024.
