Young photographer Momo Mustafa has displayed photographs portraying street children, women workers, culture, nature and others in a solo exhibition under way at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

The three-day exhibition titled ‘Melodies of Momo’ is featuring 75 photographs, which were taken when she visited 64 districts of the country, Bhutan and India.

It has been jointly organised by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Bangladesh Tourism Board.

‘After obtaining my diploma in photography, I spent nearly 15 years capturing moments in people’s lives at both home and abroad. Many of these photographs have been displayed in various group exhibitions,’ said Momo Mustafa, who explores themes of identity, tradition, and social change, offering a unique perspective on the complexities of modern-day Bangladesh.

‘This is my first solo exhibition. I want to share my photographs and experiences with art enthusiasts, photography students and aspiring women photographers,’ added Momo, who learned photography from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute and Prizm.

She displayed photographs portraying street children and child labourers under a series comprising black and white photographs.

A photograph shows a child in tattered cloth smiling while sitting beside a basket. Another photograph shows a teenager working at a spinning mill.

She has also displayed photographs showing women carrying baskets on their heads, working in tea gardens and others.

Besides, she has displayed photographs showing the scenic beauty of Bangladesh from the sky, traditional boat race, cultural and religious festivals of the people of Bangladesh, Bhutan and India.

She has also displayed photographs of Sangsad Bhaban, Ahsan Manzil and others.

The exhibition, which began on Friday, will end today.
