Fourteen Bangladeshi artists are displaying their artworks in a five-day group art exhibition titled ‘Glimpses of Contemporary Trends’ under way at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre in Ikebukuro, Japan.

The exhibition, organised and curated by artist Md Zahir Hossain, is featuring 52 paintings.

Artists, including Sultanul Islam, Liakat Ali, Sanjib Kumar Das, Md Zahir Hossain, Rubina Nargis, Shahriar Hossain, Azharul Islam Sheikh, Rifat Jahan Kanta, Sk Mehedi Kamal, Shahin Sobhana, Anukul Mojumder, Mukti Bhowmik, MM Maizuddin and Rownok Jahan have participated in the exhibition.

Bangladesh ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed inaugurated the exhibition on Tuesday.

‘This group art exhibition aims at showcasing artworks by Bangladeshi artists. Among the participating artists, some played a vital role in reshaping the art scene of Bangladesh,’ said Md Zahir Hossain.

‘This exhibition allows us to display our artwork in Japan. The people of Japan are interested in the artworks of Bangladeshi artists. We have tried to portray age-old tradition and contemporary art trends of Bangladesh in the artworks,’ said Azharul Islam Sheikh.

The exhibition, which began on Tuesday, will end today.
