Monster mayhem has descended on the rooftops of well-known buildings across Slough town centre.
In celebration of the summer holidays, the landmark rooftops have been transformed by Designs in Air to house giant inflatable monsters.
Monsters Nosey Bonk, Bezerker, Tentacles, Howler and a family of Goofs have been unleashed and are each dominating the skyline atop one of the five chosen buildings.
These include The Porter Building, Queensmere Shopping Centre, The Future Works, Aston Bond and The Brickhouse.
The invasion has been brought to the town by Slough BID and kicked off on Monday with 180 sandbags being delivered and carried up flights of stairs at each of the locations, allowing Designs in Air riggers to safely install the monster inflatables.
The monsters will be presiding over the town until Thursday, August 22.
British inflatable design company Designs in Air was founded by artists Luke Egan and Peter Hamilton AKA Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas.
For more than three decades, the company has worked on a range of projects for clients including the London 2012 Paralympics, Cirque du Soleil, the New York Aquarium, Glastonbury, Greenpeace, Fuji Rock, and Lollapalooza festivals.
More recently, Designs in Air have been pioneering modern cultural civic experiences around the UK and Slough is one of a handful of towns hosting a monster invasion.
Clarissa Parker, Slough BID manager, said: “Slough BID is delighted to bring this wonderfully colourful and surreal installation to Slough Town Centre.
“Our aim is to bring smiles to people’s faces as they see these monsters appearing from rooftops or reaching out from corners of the town centre and to provide a different long-term attraction to Slough for businesses, residents and visitors.
“As mentioned above Slough is only one of a handful of towns in the UK to host this unique monster invasion.”
Luke Egan AKA Filthy Luker, said: “Our main motive is to make the world a more softer, surreal and colourful place, as a kind of vendetta against the mundane, grey, concrete world we live in.
“With the element of surprise as a shock-tactic, our giant pop-up artworks spice up the norm and disrupt skylines.
“They are instantly seen and enjoyed by everyone who passes by – it might not be high art, but it is high up art.”
A QR code is locate in the vicinity of each monster which allows access to a map for people go on the hunt to find them all.
