A talented Pokemon fan online has shared their awesome acrylic painting of a Ditto, while adding a unique spin on one of this Pokemon’s in-game traits. The Pokemon community continues to show why it is often regarded as one of the most creative groups online.
In just a couple of years’ time, the Pokemon series will turn 30 years old. Its ongoing popularity, despite its age, is an impressive feat, with the franchise managing to keep multiple generations of players engaged on a consistent basis. Due to how long it has been going for, there are now over 1000 Pokemon designs, each of which showcase the awesome creativity at Game Freak. It’s some feat to still be able to create interesting new designs, and as a result, there have been a ton of awesome pieces of Pokemon fan art created by the franchise’s community. One Pokemon fan recently created impressive stained glass art of Ho-Oh and Lugia, showcasing that fan art based on the series isn’t all just simple pieces of artwork.

Original Pokemon Anime Created a Problem That Still Hasn’t Been Resolved
One fan points out an interesting plothole within the Pokemon anime that has big ramifications on Pokemon lore, yet hasn’t been re-visited.
This particular piece of Ditto fan art comes from Redditor agatje_art, who painted the piece with acrylic paints on canvas. The artwork shows the popular Generation 1 Pokemon looking at themselves in a mirror, with the words “Who am I” repeated in the background. Considering Ditto’s ability to transform itself into any other Pokemon, this is a strangely self-reflective piece, defined by agatje_art as an “Existential crisis Ditto.” It’s great to see a piece of fan art actually considering the canon traits of that particular Pokemon, as opposed to being a simple drawing of the design.

Because Ditto is a Generation 1 Pokemon, fans of the franchise have had many years to become familiar with it. As a result, it has a ton of fans out there, especially given how essential Ditto is while breeding Pokemon in the games. Over the years, the Ditto fans out there have produced a ton of amazing fan art based on the Pokemon, with some even combining it with other designs in creative ways. One Pokemon fan even created awesome fusion art combining Ditto and Quagsire, to see what it would look like combined with the popular Water-type design.
Although there’s always something special about looking back at the classic Pokemon designs, it will be interesting to see what Game Freak has in the works with regards to Generation 10. While official news on the subject has been silent, leaks may have already given an indication as to when it may arrive. Just recently, a Pokemon leak indicated that Generation 10 is coming in 2026, which is still a little while away. As with any leaks, this should always be taken with a pinch of salt, as plans can always change as development continues. Still, it’s exciting to think that it’s on the way.
