Kandyse Whitney, of Beaverton, looks over her handmade earrings Saturday, June 29 at the Arts of the Mountain festival in Silver Lake. Whitney, through her business Distracted Squirrel Studio, scours magazines, catalogs and travel brochures for images of everyday items, which appear more impressionistic when sealed under the glass of her earrings. Patterns include a tight shot of pencils that mimic a sunset and crinkled paper from a supply catalog.
