Alice Holt Forest, near Farnham, is one of just six outdoor locations across England to see the shortlisted entries for this year’s Earth Photo competition. The exhibition of world class photography, in the beautiful forest setting, can be seen from Monday, July 1 until September 29.

Earth Photo engages with still and moving image makers to showcase the issues affecting the climate and life on our planet. It was started in 2018 by Forestry England, the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and Parker Harris.

The outdoor exhibition will display 30 of the 124 final shortlisted images by photographers from around the world. They will include pictures by the winners of the Earth Photo 2024 Award, Jean-Marc Caimi and Valentina Piccinni.

Their photographic series, Tropicalia, documents the drastic effects of climate change on food sovereignty in Sicily and the creative adaptations of the region’s farmers to a changed landscape. Also on display, will be dramatic images of ancient red cedar trees in British Columbia by photographer, TJ Watt, who brings to life the passionate efforts to protect these giants and their vital habitats under threat of climate change.

Danielle Grimsey, from Forestry England said: “We are delighted that Alice Holt Forest has been chosen to host the Earth Photo exhibition this year. It’s a great way for our visitors not only to be able to see these world class images but to do so in a beautiful and thought-provoking setting amongst nature.

“This year’s winning images offer us all a new way of seeing and reflecting on the beauty, fragility, and change happening in our natural environment. They also connect us with landscapes, wildlife and communities across the planet.

“Set amongst the forest trees that we are caring for, these images will leave a deep impression.” The exhibition can be found on the Easy Access Trail at Alice Holt Forest. More information is available here.
