Spark! Imagination and Science Center will be hosting a new series of the Young at Art program this summer for youth ages 7 and up. Throughout June and July, participants will have the opportunity to mix art, science, and social studies by creating faux fossils, magnetic puzzles, abstract art, and more. The fourth installment, Drawing with Thread, will be Thursday, July 11 from 10 am – 1 pm. Participants will create a piece of abstract art inspired by Wassily Kandinski, using watercolors, Japanese paper, and thread.
“Learning through the arts create personal connections and context to the world around them,” states the museum’s Education Coordinator, Tiffany Martin. “Young at Art allows children to actively participate in the learning process.”
Participation in Young at Art is included with general admission and no pre-registration is required. General admission is $5 per person, children under 12 months visit for free. For a list of upcoming dates and activities, please visit our Facebook page, gives us a call, or contact Tiffany Martin at [email protected]. Young at Art was funded through a grant made possible through a collaborative effort between YCF and the Arts Council of Greater Morgantown, with funding from the City of Morgantown, the Monongalia County Commission, and the Douglas H. Tanner Memorial Fund for the Arts.
