What will you learn on this course?
This is a structured course in still life drawing that will guide you step by step in using a range of drawing materials, such as graphite pencils/sticks, charcoal pencils, pastel, pen and ink, coloured/water soluble pencils, and collage. You will gain skills in mark marking, perspective and scale, shadow, tone and textures.
You will bring together all of the skills and techniques you have learnt to bring different still life compositions to life and work with a variety of intriguing subject matter. These will include simple objects, geometric shapes, household objects, metal, glass, stone, ceramic, plants, flowers, fabric and fruit.
Each week the tutor will set a specific project. She will demonstrate techniques which will be supported with examples of artists’ work. Students will then undertake practical exercises to learn and apply the technique themselves with individual guidance and support from the tutor.
On completing the course, you can expect to have a portfolio of drawings which demonstrate your understanding of drawing materials and technical skills.
This is a relaxed, calming course which allows you to explore techniques and skills which will give you the confidence to develop your work even further.
