“It’s a Family Affair: the Art & Wit of Thomas Rodriguez & Family” opens Friday at Art Hive in Staunton.

An opening reception of a retrospective of the art and wit of Thomas Rodriguez and his children will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024. Rodriguez lives on the West End of Staunton.

“We are honored to feature the incredible artistry of local artist, seminal punk musician and master luthier Thomas Rodriguez in our gallery. Both he and his guitars are legend and his art is both sublime and provocative. He has passed his considerable skills in artistry and humor on to his twins, Mia and Jett, and we are showcasing their work, including his first drawing, age six. You may even find the answer to the age old question of Nature or Nurture,” said Art Hive co-founder Kirsten Schneider.

One or two of Rodriguez’s one-of-a-kind guitars that have been featured in magazines and played by world famous musicians will be on display only at the opening.

“It’s a Family Affair” will be on display until Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
