KINGSTON, N.Y. — The Midtown Kingston Arts District will host its 2024 Draw-A-Thon on Saturday, Aug. 10, inviting people of all ages and skill levels to draw throughout the day.

The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., will have a sea-life and ocean theme. Attendees are invited to draw on the walls, windows, and various other surfaces across the space at the Draw Studio, 20 Cedar St. The Draw-A-Thon is based on a 24-hour event started in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2008.

This year, members of the Pop-Up Gallery Group will be on-site to create drawing opportunities. In addition, several costumed models will be in attendance, including a mermaid, as well as face painting and the “Draw-A-Tron,” a handmade machine that can produce drawings with just one press of a button.

Admission is free, and all materials are provided. The first 100 attendees will receive a free “emergency drawing kit,” containing drawing tools and other items to inspire creativity. The event will remain family-friendly throughout the course of the day, becoming more adult-oriented from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
