The comedian has been announced as the November featured artist for DRAW!, a nationwide drawing project.

The project is inspired and supported by Bradford-born artist David Hockney.

Participants are invited to create and share artwork based on a monthly theme set by a different artist.

Mr Vegas has chosen the theme “Something that makes you happy” and shared a line drawing of a man reading a newspaper in a pub.

He said: “This month’s theme is ‘something that makes you happy’ and how you interpret that is totally up to you.

“It might be a memory, a favourite place, a scribble of a landscape, or it might just be a swirl of colour, it’s completely open.

“From a young age drawing was so important to me.

“I realised later in life that I’m ADHD, so this was a means of expressing myself.

“I have 50 ideas a day, the beauty of art, the beauty of sketching is scribble it down, or else it’ll be gone as a new idea will come in and nudge it out of the way – beautiful chaos.

“I implore you to not be intimidated by sketching and drawing and art.

“Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t draw.

“Art and culture are in all of us – set it free, send it in, and let’s have a look.”

Mr Vegas is best known for his surreal humour and television roles, but originally trained as a ceramicist.

He graduated with a BA in Art and Ceramics from Middlesex University and rediscovered ceramics during the pandemic.

He has since exhibited work at the British Ceramics Biennial and several galleries across the UK.

DRAW! encourages people of all ages to reflect on daily life through drawing, whether using pencil, pen or digital tools.

Bradford 2025 is running drawing workshops for adults and children throughout the year, featuring a new theme and guest artist each month.

Previous contributors include Dame Zandra Rhodes, Harry Hill and Morag Myerscough.

Members of the public can submit drawings via bradford2025.co.uk/mydrawing or by sharing on social media with the hashtag #bradford2025 or by tagging @bradford_2025.

Selected submissions will be displayed on the Bradford 2025 website each month at bradford2025.co.uk/event/draw/
