Nigerian doctor and artist Dr. Fola David has begun his attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Drawing By An Individual.
The monumental artwork, titled “Unity in Diversity,” will be a sprawling 850-square-meter map of Nigeria, celebrating the nation’s rich tapestry of cultures.
The current Guinness World Record holder is Ravi Soni from India, who achieved a drawing of 629.98 square meters.
Dr. Fola David’s artistic creation has been taking place at the Onikan Stadium, with the record-breaking attempt currently underway. The project began on July 16th and is scheduled to be completed by July 21st, 2024.
The drawing “Unity in Diversity” will showcase the diverse ethnic groups of Nigeria through their unique attire, languages, culture, and artistic expressions.
This artistic feat not only aims to break a world record but also serves as a powerful symbol of unity for Nigeria. Dr. David’s “Unity in Diversity” represents the hope for a deeper understanding and appreciation of Nigeria’s diverse cultural landscape.

Scholars were not left out as art students of Chrisland College and Dowen College also came visiting to see a visual artist break a World Guinness record.
Earlier the Dean of Students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Olufemi Fasanmade, and other officials also came to visit and conferred Fola David with an award in recognition of his effort to promote art as an alumnus of the school.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Youth and Culture, Mobolaji Ogunlende also paid a visit to Onikan Stadium to encourage and bear witness to history being made. There he encouraged young people around the state to pay mind to their craft and become the best at it.
