If you know any budding young artists, the region is holding an art contest.
They’re making a day of awareness on Thursday, called ‘Imagine a Day Without Water.’
The idea comes from the U.S. Water Alliance, but is celebrated around the world.
It’s meant to recognize the importance of water and the need for cutting-edge solutions to help solve water-related challenges.
The art contest is open to anyone under 18, who lives in Durham.
You can draw or paint something that shows what water means to you and your family.
You’re allowed to use pencils, pens, crayons, markers or anything that you can draw with.
In the future, your masterpiece could be used in one of the region’s water reports or on the regional government’s website.
“We encourage all children in Durham to share with us what water means to them to help us raise awareness about the true value of water in our community,” said Mike Hubble, Durham’s director of environmental services. “Investing in our water infrastructure today ensures that future generations are empowered to be stewards of this vital resource.”
