As part of Manly Art Gallery & Museum’s Collection 100 centenary celebrations, we’ve invited four artists represented in our collection to each present a masterclass.

Join one or all four in this series of intensive workshops providing unique insights and access to the artists as they share their knowledge, skills and tips about approaches to the landscape, the figure and the still life. Each artist will talk about their work, demonstrate key techniques and offer discussion and guided instruction.

Leading our third masterclass is artist Hadyn Wilson with a session on drawing in relief. Hadyn has developed this idea and his unique methods over several decades, and says it has almost as much to do with theatre and set design, as drawing. Participants will be encouraged to conjure up their own simple narratives, draw them on paper, then present them in relief as ‘stage settings’ within a shallow frame (small cardboard boxes provided). You may like to bring an image of a room or interior to base your work on.

This session provides an opportunity to extend your drawing skills.

Please bring all your own materials and refreshments. (Materials list provided)
