As part of its summer Breeze Festival, Craven Arts will be hosting a second life drawing event to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research. The first event held last year was the idea of life model John Tunney and raised £223 for the charity.
Due to take place on Saturday, July 20 the six hour bareathon at the Otley Street centre will bring together artists of all levels of experience in a creative effort to support a cause that touches many lives.
They will have the opportunity to draw the live, nude, model in a range of poses, and throughout the day, different models will attend, including writer and art model, Sue Vickerman.
The class will be untutored, and artists can drop in and spend as much time drawing as they like; the aim is that it will be a friendly event where artists can meet and share the experience.
“We are excited to combine the power of art with the spirit of community to make a difference in the fight against cancer,” said Ann Rutherford, Director of Craven Arts. “This event is not just for artists but for everyone who wants to support a worthy cause and experience the magic of creativity.”
The session is open to anyone over the age of 16 years old and will take place from 10am to 4pm. Participants are asked to bring a drawing pad and pencil. Easels, tables and boards will be provided. Participants will be asked to donate on a “pay as you think” basis with all proceeds going to the charity.
