MIDDLEBORO – The National Veterans Creative Arts Festival in Colorado awarded a first place prize to Jeffrey Montelo, a member of Middleboro American Legion post 64.
Montelo submitted a drawing of a bearded veteran to the contest, titled “Through the eyes of a Veteran.” The drawing qualified for the national competition after winning an art contest held by the Brockton VA Medical Center.
“He’s probably homeless and looking into his future and it looks a little brighter,” said Montelo about the drawing.
Montelo is an active member of American Legion Post 64 in Middleboro, where he was Post Commander until 2014.
